چکیده
Perturbation analysis provides the framework for an understanding of the effects of a small mass moving through a “background” spacetime. The analysis begins with a background spacetime metric gab which is usually a vacuum solution of the Einstein equations Gab(g) = 0. An object of small mass μ then disturbs the geometry by an amount hab = O(μ) which is governed by the perturbed Einstein equations with the stress-energy tensor δTab = O(μ) of the object being the source,

Introduction to Mathematical General Relativity — lectures given by Rick Schoen
This series of lecture notes were taken for the topic class on mathematical General Relativity given by Professor Rick Schoen in the spring quarter of 2012 at Tsinghua University. These lectures start from basic introduction of General Relativity, and then move on to several fundamental mathematical subjects in this field. Particularly, the notes cover the conformal method of solving the vacuum...
متن کاملSome notes on convergence of homotopy based methods for functional equations
Although homotopy-based methods, namely homotopy analysis method andhomotopy perturbation method, have largely been used to solve functionalequations, there are still serious questions on the convergence issue of thesemethods. Some authors have tried to prove convergence of these methods, butthe researchers in this article indicate that some of those discussions are faulty. Here, after criticizi...
متن کاملLecture Notes on General Relativity
These notes represent approximately one semester’s worth of lectures on introductory general relativity for beginning graduate students in physics. Topics include manifolds, Riemannian geometry, Einstein’s equations, and three applications: gravitational radiation, black holes, and cosmology. Individual chapters, and potentially updated versions, can be found at http://itp.ucsb.edu/~carroll/not...
متن کامل“ Gauge ” in General Relativity : — Second - order general relativistic gauge - invariant perturbation theory —
As in the case of the other gauge field theories, there is so called “gauge” also in general relativity. This “gauge” is unphysical degree of freedom. There are two kinds of “gauges” in general relativity. These are called the firstand the second-kind of gauges, respectively. The gauge of the first kind is just coordinate system on a single manifold. On the other hand, the gauge of the second k...
